Are you sure you are a Christian?
The Biblical meaning of the term "Christian" is a "follower
of Christ". It is one who is taught by Him and obeys
His teachings. The Bible says that Jesus, "having been
perfected, has become the author of eternal salvation
to all who obey Him." (Heb. 5:9).
You must ask yourself: Am I reading God's Word (The
Bible) and following and obeying its teachings as a
pattern for my life?
There are many people today that are very religious.
They go to church every week, and are doing a lot of
good things, but they are not following Christ in their
everyday life.
What does Jesus say will happen to these people when
they die? "Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord'
shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the
will of my Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in
that day, 'Lord, Lord', have we not prophesied in Your
name, cast out demons in Your name and done many wonders
in Your name? And then I will declare to them, I never
knew you, depart from me, you who practice sin." Matthew
7:21-23)
You see, these people were hanging around Jesus and
doing a lot of good things, but they were not following
and obeying Him in their everyday lives.
Ask yourself: Are you doing God's will (obeying Him)?
The fact is, everyone should "examine themselves to
see if they are in the faith". The devil is a deceiver,
and he can deceive you into thinking you are a Christian,
when in fact you're obeying yourself rather than the
God who created you.
Take the time right now while you're sitting in front
of this computer and ask yourself: If I were to die
tonight, am I positive I'm a true Christian and would
go to heaven? If you can't answer a resounding yes to
this question please read on.
How to become a True Christian
1. You must admit your need (I am a sinner). " For
all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God."
(Romans 3:23). Acknowledge your sin before God and regret
having offended Him.
2. You need to repent of your sin - Jesus said,"but
unless you repent you will all likewise perish." (Luke
13:3) Repentance has been called the gate which all
must come through who desire acceptance with God. This
children's hymn describes accurately what repentance
is: Repentance is to leave the sins we loved before;
and show that we in earnest grieve by doing so no more;
Its simple, Leave your sins behind.
3.You must believe; Believe that Jesus Christ died
for you on the Cross and rose from the dead. " That
if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe
in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead,
you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto
righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made
unto salvation." (Romans 10:9-10)
4. You must receive Christ as your Lord and Savior.
Through prayer, invite Jesus Christ to come in and control
your life. "But as many as received Him, to them He
gave the right to become children of God, to those who
believe in His name." (John 1:12). "For whoever calls
on the name of the Lord will be saved." (Romans 10:13).
If today you have received Christ as your personal Savior
please let us know. We will send you some free literature
